Zachary Van Heel - Color Crit2

  1. Your photos display this distinction between nature and man-made things. I think it is interesting to see the vibrant colors in the fruit and flowers followed by the darker browns and grays of the city streets. Your sixth picture is really interesting. It looks like the color fades to black and white and the distortion is a very strange effect.

  2. A lot of great stuff. I like how there seems to be two series going on, one with produce and flowers and the other with metallic and man-made materials. comparing the two is interesting, but I would say that the first group of images have a stronger color theme.

    my vote is #4 (pomegranates)

  3. The way photos 1-5 have the subject matter dominate the frame is very cool. I also like the lighting set up you with the blinds in your last picture, the self portrait. My favorite though is #6, because I love trippy imagery. The picture is half real, half unreal. Radical, man

  5. I love 8. The mood created by the lighting and texture is great. Very subdued, dark, mysterious, moody. I love the light shining on the wet pavement in the center. It's really beautiful to me.
