You do a great job of making beautiful photos made of simple objects. Especially in the one with the laser lights from what I assume is a concert. It had to be a challenge to capture those lights perfectly and without too much movement.
The first concert shot, #8, is perfectly exposed and framed to suggest an alien abduction. Even the phone lights in the distance add an eerie feel to the strong directional lights from the left. This picture maintains a certain amount of mystery although when paired with the photo below it, is obviously a concert shot. Alone it is a stronger picture.
If I were to see these photographs hung up it would look really cool. The way the lines in two of your shots relate, make for a good set of photographs. However the direction by itself leads me away from the image quickly, where as your decoration light photograph keeps my focus in by directing my eye to several points.
Your photo with the reflection of the street scene in the shard of broken mirror was one of my favorites, the way it's framed I had the feeling as though I was looking at a tiny piece of an alternate universe, and the (sun?)light captured at that angle gives it depth as well. Your last picture of the lights on the ground was neat, and how a nice mystery aspect to it as well (why are the lights on the ground). Nice job.
Brittany - I enjoyed your photo set, especially the two from the concert. I thought that the angles used combined with the black and white profile made these photos exceptional!
I really like the first photo and the strong lines it has. Although the effect is kind of ruined since the lines are not parallel with the frame.

ReplyDeleteThese photos have a lot of rhythm to them and some are very intricate. Your use of light is also very powerful.
